AP History - Kenneth Wynn 1922-2009

Kenneth WynnKen Wynn sadly died on Sunday 18th October 2009. He would have been 87 in December and had lived in Brighton for the last 40 years.

Ken joined the newly formed Artists Partners Ltd in 1951, one of the original team of artists, and produced work for Schweppes, the International Wool Secretariat and Bournville cocoa to name a few. He covered the genres of nude, cover girls, racing and seafaring covers.

Illustrator Brian Sanders, who was employed as a messenger boy at the time, recalls that whenever he delivered or collected artwork, Ken was the one person who took time showing Brian (at that time an aspiring illustrator in training ) how he put various jobs together with reference and models. He always shared his expertise and was a very kind and generous man.

Ken also worked on cruise ships in the 80's commissioned to do passengers portraits etc, which honed his skills as an illustrator and painter. Other great interests were horse racing which again became an area of work that he enjoyed and the paintings were sold in galleries in Brighton.

One of his most most prestigious commissions was that of the Coronation panels that were displayed across Selfridges in 1951.
